Who else is low-key nervous going out to eat cuz you’ve had worker interactions like this?? 😡😢 Or have you ever had a “gluten free” meal prepared perfectly…until a gluten side or topping is added at the very end? 🤦‍♀️😩 Compared to when I went gluten free 11 years ago, I'm grateful that most restaurants promoting gf options have decently educated workers who will do their best to make my meal safely. 🙏 But it’s the WORST when the employee is obviously mad or doubtful I need to eat gluten free. 😢 And I wish MORE restaurant workers were required to learn: 💙 Celiac disease is a serious autoimmune disease where we can get intestinal damage from 1u002F350th a piece of bread — basically crumbs. So cross contact MATTERS! 💙 We often don’t eat out for this exact reason, so when we do, we’re typically going to places PROMOTING safe options. And we get that mistakes happen…but please don’t get mad at US if they do. 🤷‍♀️ 💙 When we find a safe spot, we go often and tip well! So it’s honestly in everyone’s interest to take simple food allergy steps to prevent our meal from touching gluten. What do you wish restaurant workers were required to know or be trained on? Or what’s your go-to safe ice cream shop or brand? If you haven’t tried @Whole Foods Market Certified GF, Dairy & Oat Free cookie dough ice cream it’s CHEAP & delish. 😍 And they have many dairy flavors too!
